LUXURIES FOR ADVENTURES

I’m not talking about heated grips or custom seats. I’m talking about the things before and after riding.

I’m currently working on my aeropress coffee recipe for the 2026 riding season. I’m about 1 month in, 4 bags of coffee deep and not even close to a final recipe. Coffee is a deep rabbit hole. I don’t recommend it.

I started drinking black coffee when I cut back on sugar a while back, which that lead me into specialty coffee. Again, this hole is deep. Stay out.

I like to use beer as an analogy.

A nice cold corona or bud light is like a nice caramel frappuccino or mocha latte.

A smash west coast IPA is like a light single origin pour over black coffee. (I don’t know what a smash west coast IPA is, but my brother in law who drinks more beer than I do says it’s a good one to use for this analogy)

There is no right or wrong here, it’s just what you enjoy. I happen to like the one that takes a ton of work and headaches.

When you do dial in a solid cup of coffee, it’s glorious. Smooth, flavorful, aromatic, tasty. Nothing like a great cup of coffee to start the day. Luxury at its finest.

I’ll post my recipe and setup once I figure it out, but no guarantees that anyone else will like it.

The other luxury I’m planning to bring this year are cigars.

I got into cigars about a year ago and that has also been rabbit hole. I won’t elaborate, but if you want some cigar advice; buy a climate controlled electric humidor and a sealed travel case.

I have a few cigars in mind for this trip, but wrapper leafs and sizes are what I’m currently contemplating.

Confirmed smokes; My Father - Flor de Las Antillas (robusto), My Father - Blue Honduras (robusto), Leaf by Oscar - Flat Earth (robusto), Room 101 - Johnny Tobacconaut.

As long as you’re not ruining the vibe with all the smoke; relaxing with a properly humidified cigar after a long day of riding is hard to beat.

My goal this year is to enjoy a nice cigar at the top of mountain with a killer view.

If you have the room, I recommend bringing one or two small luxury items. They can get you pumped for the day, help you chill out, or celebrate getting through a hard section.
