GLOVES
TROY LEE DESIGNS SCOUT GAMBIT OFF-ROAD
My favorite gloves. Great overall protection with excellent ventilation and flexibility. This is my go to gloves in most situations.
REVIT CONTRAST GTX
These are my long distance, easy riding, cold weather, stay dry, glove. I tried on every single GTX glove at the local cycle gear and these came out on top. They were the least restricting of the bunch. My previous waterproof cold weather gloves ended at the wrist and water always found its way inside. These extend past the wrist. I also wear my jacket over the top, so they are as waterproof as they get. The only issue with these is taking them off. You have to delicate. No yanking here. Think tea cup, not beer mug. Otherwise you’re spending 10 minutes with a pencil trying to line the fingers back up. It sucks, I don’t recommend it.
100 % EVERYTHING
I’m pretty sure everyone I ride with has a pair of 100% gloves. I carry 2 pairs in my truck just in case. They’re a solid choice. I specifically like the brisker model for cold weather. The brisker with heated grips and you are set. Next time you’re at your local shop, just pick up a pair.
REVIT CAYENNE 2
I bought these at Touratech a couple of years ago. I wanted a pair for street riding in hot weather. I also had Triumph Scrambler at the time. The first pair had stitching issues and became undone on the side of the pointer finger. I reached out to Motocorsa and they replaced them no problem. This new pair is solid, no issues so far. They have great protection and good ventilation. Now I just need another street bike.
THE RIGHT GLOVES
A while back I noticed that my hands started to cramp on certain rides. At first I thought it was from the normal clutch and brake pull, but it only happened when I had my bulky gloves. I realized that for the sake of “comfort” I was creating muscle fatigue and sacrificing control. If you run heated grips, bulky gloves don’t offer any real benefits. Even in the cold rain, I’ll run thinner gloves with heated grips. My hands will be wet, but they will be warm and functional. The only time I use bulky gloves is on long, easy, cozy rides. Those don’t happen too often.
