DESERT 100 2025

EATING DUST IN ODESSA WASHINGTON

Day one:

So far the event has been good. Reminds me of growing up in Wiley City.

Second cigar of the day. The first one was pretty good-The Judge. Had a ham sandwich and a steak before that one. The second came after a few drinks at the beer tent. El Rey Del Mundo; very good cigar, better than the first. It’s almost 2:30am I’ll smoke the second half tomorrow with coffee.

I drank beer, my sinuses feel like my air filter after this event. The cover band is playing hits from the early 2000’s, good times.

Looking forward to a slow start tomorrow for the poker run.

Day two:

An ocean of generators generating ocean sounds.

The ear piercing hiss of propane.

It’s soothing; it’s also making my neck hurt and my ears bleed.

I’ll take it over the shitty pop country the neighbors are playing.

There are distant chants.

We must investigate. After this cigar.

The cover band was a solid six and a half. Somehow the guitar player couldn’t play the easy parts but nailed the solo to free bird; minus the other 3 guitars.

Riding was good today. Hit some hills, rocky sections and some single track at a decent pace. Definitely feeling myself getting better each time. Would be fun to race next year with better conditioning. We did 100 miles for the dual sport poker run and I was feeling a bit draggy after lunch. Pulled pork and chili isn’t necessarily the best fuel.

New life goal-judge less. Realized this after a few hill climbs and hours of bush pummeling.

The DRZ is such a work horse, I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of this bike.
